Murphy uses photography as a medium to study an outsiders perception of Ireland. A teacher at St. John’s College, Cork, he has received numerous awards and has exhibited extensively nationally and internationally. In 1999 he was commisioned to take photographs as part of the National Lottery Pilot Programme for the Production of New Work. In 2000 his show entitled ‘Anywhere Please’ was included as part of ‘Quinze en Europe, Young European Photography ‘, Espace Sainte – Reparte, France.1
