Lordan (b. 1997) works predominantly with photography; exploiting the limits of image-making to create thought-provoking and conceptual artworks. As her interests and understanding of the world develop, so does her practice and visual rhetoric.

For Lordan, art-making is a method of processing conflict within herself and the world around her. Inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in the experience of her artworks, Lordan attempts to reveal the hidden truths found in the underbelly of psychosocial dynamics. Whether in relation to the notion of femininity, mental health, religion, or altered appearances, Lordan’s intent when making new artworks is to inform the viewer of a lesser-known truth, refocusing their outlook to the subject matter at hand. Lordan’s primary area of focus is portraying the female experience. 

Lordan was awarded Student of the Year, graduating with a First Class Honours BA in Photography from IADT in 2021. She was shortlisted for the Graduate Development Award from Photo Museum Ireland in the summer of 2021. In an international competition, Lordan was selected as one of 3 [photographers] under 30 by German gallerist Daniel Blau, to have their work exhibited in Paris as part of Photo Saint-Germain in November 2021. Lordan’s graduate work was selected by Lismore Castle Arts to be exhibited as part of their ORIGINS 2021 show in November 2021. In March 2022, Lordan’s work was exhibited alongside fellow visual artists who had graduated amidst the pandemic from 2019-2021 in Draíocht’s you breath differently down here. Selected works from Lordan’s graduate project Come As You Are were exhibited during Imagine! Belfast 2022 in Second Collective’s She/Her/They/Them/We show. Lordan’s work was included in the Herman’s Modern & Contemporary Art Auction in May 2022. Lordan’s Pain is Beauty #2 was exhibited in the On Portraiture section of PhotoIreland Festival 2022, as well as in The Library Project during the HALFTONE Print Fair 2022.
