Mauricio Quevedo is a Chilean photographer and performer based in Dublin. His works centres around the possibility of showing and finding the self in images. Consequently, he explores portraiture and self-portraiture, as well as the use of photography in live performance.

Mauricio was mentored by Chilean photographer Gabriela Jara. He is currently a guest researcher at Trinity College and he is finishing a PhD in Arts at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He also holds a performer degree from the same institution and a MA in Theatre Directing by the University of Essex.

Projects

  • Under The Surface (2019)

    Performance using photography and live projections, where the spectators are invited to use torches against the body of the performer, hoping to see what lies under the surface. Presented at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Santiago, Chile, and Trinity College.

  • I Remains (2019)
    Performance using thermal cameras and live projections. The spectators are invited to see beyond the surface of the body of the performer as he uses his body heat, sweat, spit and even his veins as expressive materials. Presented at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Santiago, Chile, and Trinity College.
