This book is an accompanying catalogue for the major Irish Museum of Modern Art exhibition ‘The Moderns’ which took place from the 20th of October to the 13th of February 2011. It explored the development of Modernism in the art in Ireland from the period 1900 to 1975. The Moderns: The Arts in Ireland from the 1900s to the 1970s does not only contain photographs but also architecture, painting, writing, sculpture, print and music. Each of these topics is discussed in length.

About the Editors

Christina Kennedy is the Senior Curator and Head of Collections at IMMA. 2

Enrique Juncosa (b. 1961) is a writer, exhibition curator and cultural manager. He was director of the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin from 2003 to 2012, for which he was awarded the Spanish Order of Civil Merit, and was previously deputy director of the Museo Reina Sofía, Madrid (2000-2003) and the IVAM, Valencia (1998-2000). 3

About the Publisher

IMMA is Ireland’s National Cultural Institution for Modern and Contemporary Art.
